DESIGN
There are a lot of considerations and aspects in conceptualizing a frame design. From our design engineer’s point of view, form must always follow function. Each Frame is designed specifically to perform and surpass rigorous test inside and outside the lab. Feedback from sponsored riders and test results were gathered then adjustments were applied until we achieve our goal, to produce one of the best frames available.
Stiffness to weight ratio was highly considered. The bottom brackets on our frame were designed a bit massive and a bridge was also incorporated on the chain stay area so as to stiffen the ride. With the proper lay-up of the carbon sheets on specific areas, we were able to manipulate the performance by making the frame more stable yet responsive…the end result, an all around performing race breed frame.
Vellum frames are designed by our highly qualified design engineers and were done though the aid of the latest computer aided design technology. Function was first considered then aesthetics was integrated thereafter to ensure the strength and stiffness of each design.
TEST
Tests are done through each stage of the frame production. From the laying and the cutting of the carbon sheets of the frame, to the lamination, forming, high pressure curing to the last coating of the frame finish, specific tests are applied.
This only ensures the quality check of each frame are of the highest in bicycle frame manufacturing standards.
Composite data

HIGH - MODULUS
The Vellum High Modulus Carbon Fiber is thinner compared to other carbon filaments but without compromising the tensile bearing load of the material. In this process, we are able to attain a much lighter frame.
MONOCOQUE
A Vellum monocoque frame is composed of three unified parts. The front triangle- where the top tube, down tube, seat tube and the head tube are bonded together, then the seat stay and the chain stay.
Vellum Cycles’ raw carbon fiber sheets comes from Japan, which is the best source for such material. The sheets, specifically comes from Toho, Toray and Mistimition. Each type are used depending on the specific application of the frame.
Four times better in tensile strength and longer fatigue life compared to the best alloys in the world, the Vellum carbon fiber also excels in its lightness by weighing only a quarter of the alloy material.
Vellum frames are carefully hand fabricated and finished by our skilled technicians.
Carbon Fiber Technology “the No-Compromise Material”
Strength and stiffness of carbon fiber are design dependent. There is basically an unlimited application in terms of designing a carbon fiber frame but the best designs are only as strong as their execution, which is why we take great pains to ensure the quality and consistency of the carbon fiber frames we create. All frames, forks and components are built using unidirectional, long-filament pre-impregnated composites. We use long-filament carbon for the superior strength you get from continuous fiber runs, and we can tune each structure with careful fiber orientation.
Our pre-impregnated carbon uses a proprietary, toughened thermoset resin interlock, which holds and keeps the carbon fiber together.
There is an ideal composite/resin interlock ratio which provides the strongest, lightest finished structure. If there isn’t enough interlocking, the composite won’t be adequately held together, reducing it’s structural effectiveness. If there’s too much interlocking, the part is heavier, and the strength-to-weight ratio suffers since even our proprietary, thermoplastic-toughened epoxy doesn’t have the structural strength of composite. By using pre-impregnated carbon fibers, we’re able to ensure that optimal fiber/resin ratio in the completed part, what you’d call lightest and strongest. This is the preferred way of building carbon parts, which is why it’s Space technology, Formula I racing and other high-performance applications.
Warranty

WARRANTY INFO
All Vellum frames are free from defects and are under warranty for (3) years upon purchase. The duration of any implied warranty or condition, of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or otherwise, on this product shall be limited to the duration of the express warranty set forth above.
In no event shall Vellum Cycles be liable for loss, inconvenience or damage, whether direct, incidental, consequential, or otherwise resulting from breach of any express or implied warranty or condition of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or otherwise, with respect to this product except as set forth herein. Some locations may not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts and some locations may not allow the exclusion or limitations of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.
In addition, the Vellum Cycles (CRP) Crash Replacement Program is designed for the Vellum Cycles product purchaser who, in any case, damages the frame due to a crash. The damaged frame must be turned over to Vellum Cycles (see warranty claim details below) and will be sent to the Vellum Tech Lab for further testing and evaluation. If the outcome of the results further imply that the damage was caused by a crash, the replacement processes is then activated. Upon approval from the Vellum Tech Lab, Vellum Cycles then confirms to the Vellum Cycles product purchaser to get a new frame at half (50% off) the current suggested retail price, if the damage is incurred within the warranty period.
To obtain service of these warranties, you must send your Vellum Cycles product together with retailer's original bill, your charge or credit receipt or other satisfactory proof of the date of purchase of the product to your local distributors or accredited dealers. If you purchased your Vellum Cycles product internationally and still don't have an accredited local dealer or distributor in your country, send it to Vellum Cycles, No. 25-10 Leliu Town Shunde, District, Foshan City, China. Any postage, insurance or shipping cost incurred in sending your Vellum Cycles product for service, are your responsibility.
For frame replacement and warranty delivery schedules, ask your local dealer or distributor for updates.::View and Download PDF Document::
